Greetings,
A new year has arrived, and along with it a few news from Dewfall Productions. I hope you all had a nice Christmas and entered the new year the way you intended. Apart for the Christmas dinner and the presents, my Christmas must have been one of the worst in many years. Kinda like a bad comedy movie where all possible things that could go wrong, did go wrong. In the end I was just waiting for it to be over so I could get home and be with the girlfriend, and then at least we did have some really cosy days together.
We spent the days up to New Years Eve in the creative corner, resulting in a new ambient track release for you.
Before Christmas I started experimenting with Renoise v1.5.2. Since my return in August 2005 I've been using Skale Tracker to compose my music, but I have found Renoise to be better and decided to switch from Skale Tracker to Renoise for future tracks. Unlike most of the trackers I've used, Renoise is not free. I have had a principle of not wanting to pay for my trackers seeing as I do give my music away for free, but it was time to expand my music and the free trackers wasn't enough anymore. I have yet to check out Renoise v1.8 which has just been released.
Until now I have intentionally been sticking with trackers that didn't require me to learn a bunch of new commands. Protracker, Fasttracker, DigiBoosterPro and Skale Tracker all use the same commands and that has made it easy for me to switch between them. It has been essential to me not needing to spend time on learning new commands, which is also why I never did switch to OctaMED Sound Studio on the Amiga. With Renoise I'm making an exception for the first time.
Thus, 2007 will mark the beginning of my 7th era in my computer-composing history, beginning with BASIC coding of chip music on the Amstrad CPC464, then using the tracker Equinoxe on the CPC464, then Protracker on Amiga, then DigiBoosterPro on Amiga, then FastTracker II on PC, then Skale Tracker on PC and now Renoise on PC.
In this 7th era of my computer-composing history, a new goal is to have a cover-art for each track. This artwork will mostly be done by BlueAngel, and maybe a few other artists as well depending on BlueAngel's schedule and interest from other artists.
Track release: "A new direction"
This is my first track composed with Renoise. It is also a dedication to a good friend who's been having a really hard time in 2006. We already know that the cruelty of humanity knows no bounds, but it is particular sad when your own parents turn on you by not believing your words when you come to them for help and support by unwillingly sharing the story of the cruelty you have been a victim of. This is what happened to my friend. Basically she's been in hell, and hasn't received any kind of support or help from the ones who should be the most supportive in such a situation. Read more...
